Chatham County Yardbirds Name Paige Downey as New General Manager

Chatham County, N.C. — The Chatham County Yardbirds are proud to announce the appointment of Paige Downey as the organization’s new General Manager, bringing with her a deep-rooted passion for youth athletics, community engagement, and program development.

Originally from Northwest Indiana, Paige relocated to North Carolina in 2015 and has called Siler City home since 2021. Her connection to sports runs deep, shaped by her background as a former competitive cross-country athlete and strengthened through years of coaching and mentorship.

Paige currently coaches a youth cross-country team and recently led the program to its first-ever second-place finish at conference—an achievement that reflects her dedication to athlete development both on and off the field. Her passion lies in watching young athletes discover confidence, discipline, and joy through sports, the same lessons that helped shape her own journey and that she strives to pass on to her two sons.

Heavily involved in youth sports throughout the community, Paige founded a running club at a local middle school and actively assists with coaching her sons’ t-ball and other youth sports teams. Her hands-on experience and commitment to creating positive, inclusive environments make her a natural fit to lead the Yardbirds organization.

Understanding the value and opportunity the Chatham County Yardbirds provide for aspiring athletes, Paige is committed to building a strong, sustainable baseball program that delivers meaningful experiences for student-athletes, staff, and fans alike.
